Scottish Water - Inverness - Estates Surveyor

Job Description:

It’s not every job where you make a difference for the people of Scotland. But it’s what’s behind every job here.

Our work keeps Scotland’s water flowing, from reservoir to tap – and from sewer to treatment plant.

Do your bit by joining our Land and Estates Team as an Estates Surveyor for the North of Scotland, based in Inverness.

What you’ll do

As a highly experienced Estates Surveyor at Scottish Water, you'd be the go-to expert, providing professional property advice to our capital program teams. You’ll be handling acquisitions and statutory claims, and it's all about ensuring the land side of our important projects in Scotland go smoothly.

Your will be involved in projects that may include everything from upgrading existing sites and pipelines to creating brand-new ones, often in some spectacular, wild and challenging spots.

You will make sure land entry and purchases for projects in your area are delivered at pace. Plus, you'll be part of talented multi-disciplinary teams, working hand in hand to get things done.

What you’ll need

First off, you will have plenty of experience, the right qualifications, and you're a people person through and through.

You will have strong stakeholder skills because you'll be communicating with our internal and external stakeholders, community groups, and external customers. You're all about team spirit, ready to dive into the action with a large multi-disciplinary department.

You have an appetite for knowledge and love to take the initiative and you're IT-savvy with solid maths skills.

You will have an MRICS or FRICS qualification in either the infrastructure, rural or valuation sectors.

Looking out for you

While the work we do is important, we know it’s not the only thing that matters. That’s why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work-life balance.

You’ll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays). And you can even buy five more if you need a little extra time. You can also take paid time off to volunteer in your community.

When it comes to major life events we have family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave. And for the everyday? We embrace flexible working.

For your future, there’s our defined benefits pension (the ‘know-what-you’ll-get-when-you-retire’ kind), as well as life assurance.

As for some nice extras? You can expect an annual company bonus. Not to mention access to SW Splash – handy rewards that can save you money on holidays, bills, and shopping.

The not-so-small print

This role will be a Grade 7. If you’re new to Scottish Water, you’ll join us on a starting salary of £41,000-£51,970 depending on your skills and experience. Performance-driven pay progression would then allow you to move through the range to a maximum salary.

If you’re interested in this role – or know someone else who might be - the closing date for applications is midnight on the 21st of July 2024.

Job offers at Scottish Water are conditional, and will be confirmed on completion of our pre-employment screening, e.g. referencing, criminal record checks, licence checks, etc. These checks are conducted on our behalf by a third party. Don’t worry - we’ll ask your permission before starting these checks.
