Mount Stuart

Competitive salary in the region of £35K

Isle of Bute

Job description:

Owned and managed by the Mount Stuart Trust, the Bute Estate extends to some 10,900 hectares, including fertile lowlands, comprising around 90% of the Isle of Bute in the Firth of Clyde on Scotland’s’ picturesque West Coast.  Bute and its seaside town of Rothesay is surprisingly accessible being only a 35 minute ferry crossing from the mainland; in total one and a half hours travelling time from Glasgow.

The Trust is currently seeking an Estate Manager to undertake the day-to-day management of the estate overseen by the Factor. The role requires successful delivery of the diverse range of rural professional work associated with running a busy rural estate including management of the farmed estate (comprising in excess of 25 tenanted farms), an extensive residential portfolio, commercial and sporting interests. The farmed estate is wholly tenanted and includes a mixture of productive lowland dairy units as well as beef and sheep enterprises. Mount Stuart Trust is progressing an extensive multi-million pound development programme across all aspects of the estate and this is an exciting time to be joining one of Scotland’s leading rural estates.

Applicants should be:

RICS and preferably CAAV qualified

Have relevant previous work experience in the rural sector

Be able to demonstrate they are adaptable to change; have an affinity with the countryside and rural communities; be a good communicator and relationship manager at all levels; and a natural problem solver.

A competitive salary in the region of £35K commensurate with experience together with a company car, non-contributory pension scheme and private healthcare.  Accommodation is not provided but an estate house will be made available at market rent from £500pcm.

Interested applicants should submit a CV and covering letter by post or e-mail to Nadia Selkirk.
