This is an exciting time to join Luss Estates Company, the winner of the 2017 Scottish Rural Award for Business Diversification. Luss Estates Company is a modern, progressive and diverse rural business on the banks of Loch Lomond, bringing sustainable and modern direction to green energy generation, farming, forestry, Nature conservation and game management. The Estate, which extends to around 42,000 acres, comprises a wide range of businesses including an award winning hotel, hydro scheme, shops, caravan holiday park, rental properties, in-hand farm and game enterprises and lies only a few minutes away from the town of Helensburgh, half an hour from Glasgow International Airport and fifty minutes from Glasgow.

We are currently seeking to recruit a Resident Land Agent to run the property and rural side of the business. The position will suit an energetic individual, keen to take on a wide range of responsibilities, including managing the in-hand farm, forestry and woodlands, field sports & fishings, adventure sports, tenanted farms & other let properties and generally maximising the potential of the Luss Estates property portfolio. The role requires each of the enterprises to be managed to the highest standards, with a constant view to sustainability, profitability and responsible stewardship.

Candidates will need to demonstrate in their application that they have at least two years post qualification experience in a similar role, preferably on a rural Estate. They will require to be a member of the Royal Institution for Chartered Surveyors. The role reports to the Chief Executive Officer of Luss Estates Company.

Applicants should be self-motivated, have experience in motivating their team, which will include the farm manager and head gamekeeper and their staffs, through positive leadership and be a good communicator at all levels. An interest in the environment, an empathy for and understanding of the countryside, as well as natural problem solving skills are expected.

A newly refurbished family home is provided for the better performance of the Resident Land Agent’s duties.

Essential skills required:

  • RICS qualification.
  • Competent use of Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of Accounting, mapping, rents and insurance systems.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety.
  • Clean driving licence.
  • Experience of firearms.
  • Relevant degree in Rural Estate Management, Agriculture or similar.
