Rob Burgoyne works for Severn Trent Water as a land advisor within the company’s Land and Planning team, which supports the installation of new assets and infrastructure, such as water mains, reservoirs and sewage treatment works.
A typical week will involve a significant level of time managing the work of the company’s external Land and Planning Consultants. They arrange our works on private land and obtain planning consents where required, as well as acquiring land for new operational sites, such as sewage pumping stations and service reservoirs. Often I will need to consult with internal and external stakeholders – such as local authorities – relating to our works.
Most days I deal with specific individual queries from internal and external customers relating to land and planning aspects and I may attend key project team meetings. I also have to periodically review and update our existing policies and guidance for the Land and Planning team where necessary.
